Every Friday, there is a standing lunch appointment. It started as my grandma and her sisters going to lunch. Then their daughters joined. And their daughters. And sometimes when there's no school, their daughters come too. And every once in a while, a boy crashes the party. Either they are too young to care (like Ben), or too old to care (like my Dad). When Ben and I went to visit the other day, we got to go to lunch with the Beloved Aunts. My grandma passed away, and one of the sisters moved back to California, so now it's just Aunt Joann and Aunt Vonna holding down the fort.
Actually, they are my mom's aunts, so technically they are my Great-Aunt Joann and Great-Aunt Vonna, but I leave out the greats. Which would make them Ben's Great-Great-Aunt Joann and Great-Great-Aunt Vonna, but we're not that technical.
And what would Friday lunch be without some diet coke and lemon? Well, it just wouldn't be Friday lunch.
That trip was a double whammy because Annie was in town that weekend. We only got to see her for a little bit, but it was still fun.
Actually, it was a triple whammy because we also got to go to lunch with Jami and Becca. But now my boy is crying so that will have to wait for another post.
